The same storm wrecked the city marina, broke the living shoreline and damaged the boardwalk over Mullet Creek. The city started rebuilding the waterfront on July 7, 2025 under a $2.7 million contract. The new pier opened on August 27, 2026, and the rest of the work runs through the end of December 2026.
The city's flood maps include AE and VE zones along the bay and a Coastal A zone. New maps for the Alligator Creek side of town take effect in summer 2027. Bayshore Terrace and Old Harbor Place are the waterfront-adjacent streets where a flood-zone check matters most before buying.
